Alfajores with different fillings
"Alfajores" are a very popular sweet in Argentina and Latin America. From the traditional alfajores filled with „dulce de leche“ to more exotic fruit-stuffed ones, there's something to tantalize every palate. The variety of "alfajores" is big but the regional alfajores are the best. They belong to a certain area of the country, and they go with coffee, tea or the traditional "mate gourd" too.
On 11th and 12th May at the „Festival del Alfajor Regional“ there will be over twenty different brands offering their unique variations. It's a great opportunity to explore the rich diversity of this beloved treat. Expect to find these "alfajores" in the Plaza Arellano and you will be in for a treat and a half! Many of the stallers offer different kinds, so plenty of time is recommended. Local music bands will play their hits and the restaurants around the square will offer their authentic Argentinean cuisine. Come, if you have a sweet tooth, it s the perfect setting for a bit of weekend whimsy.
And while you enjoy this collection of delicacies, you can learn Spanish with us. In "Living your Spanish" we are now offering a five day or a weekend immersion courses for students from all over the world. You can take group or individual lessons, we will be delighted to give you more information about them.
Overall, the „Festival del Alfajor Regional“ in San Antonio de Areco is a delightful blend of culinary delights and cultural experiences, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists alike.
